Civic Engagement

At Ahri, everything begins and ends with the community. We strive to empower youth of color to change the political, social, and economic conditions of their communities by providing opportunities to become more engaged in local, state, and federal politics. We believe youth led voter engagement and civic engagement will create systemic and institutional change. Youth are able to understand and identify the needs for their communities around issues such as affordable housing, healthcare, and education. As experts of their communities, they can identify what is best needed and strive for a more equitable and just society.

Phonebanking

Our team has phonebanked young voters throughout Southern California on issues such as the DREAM Act, Schools and Communities First, Get Out The Vote (GOTV),  investment to education and divestment to incarceration.

Canvassing

To ensure that everyone is reached, we go door-to-door in our immigrant communities in Orange County to ensure folks receive the information they need.

Voter Education/Outreach

Our voter education is conducted through
classroom presentations, event invites, program
meetings, and community forums.

Textbanking

College students are one of the hardest to reach populations because they are constantly moving.
We use texting programs to keep in touch with youth and ensure that they are up-to-date with their voter file
